broken ≠ hopeless

Sometimes I get the distinct impression that God gave Mumford & Sons the extended sneak preview of what my life would involve on the condition that they write a range of songs about it. I’m sure that I’m not the only slightly neurotic, melancholic soul that has felt this way 🙂 and as I find myself trying to make sense of heartbreak, Sigh no More, is a beautifully fitting theme song:

Serve God, love me and mend
This is not the end
Lived unbruised, we are friends
And I’m sorry
I’m sorry

Sigh no more, no more
One foot in sea and one on shore
My heart was never pure
And you know me
You know me

Love it will not betray you
Dismay or enslave you, it will set you free
Be more like the person  you were made to be
There is a design, an alignment, a cry
Of my heart to see,
The beauty of love as it was made to be.

As for this thing called heartbreak – No, I haven’t figured it out but I will be sure to keep you posted as I fumble my way through it.
