I spent the last couple of days in Lisbon getting lost in Alfama, marvelling at the facades in Graca and drinking in a city rich with history and a truly beautiful culture. The idea had been to use the time to reflect on 2011 and get in the game for the year ahead. If nothing else these days were a reminder that life rarely goes according to plan and that sometimes when we allow ourselves to digress we find life’s breathtaking suprises are waiting to greet us.
I did not return from Portugal with a clear head and a list of resolutions, but this time of immersing myself in the unfamiliar called the values that I hope to pursue this year (and ever after) into focus. I will share some of these in the coming days:
“Truth is the beginning of every good thing, both in heaven and on earth; and he who would be blessed and happy should be from the first a partaker of truth, for then he can be trusted” – Plato
If we are what we consume then this year is going to be one where I choose to fill myself with truth in the hope that it permeates everything I do.
