darkly, deeply, beautifully…

blue

Today is supposedly blue monday – the dreariest day of the year. I stood at my bedroom window this morning with a cup of tea looking at the first snow of the season falling in Berlin – if you had asked me I would have said it is the most magical day of the year.I had started to think that winter had all but bypassed Berlin and the blanket of white met me like an otherworldly wonder.

I thought of my favourite ee cummings quote as I marvelled at the snowflakes dancing around me on my way to work: “I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.” Granted the trees are not that green and the sky is more of a powder blue mixed with grey, but it is, nonetheless, a most amazing day that has reminded me that each new day holds startling suprises.
