Darling Heart,
I read a proverb this morning and thought of you:
“A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
I love Hemingway’s take on this:
“The world breaks everyone,
and afterward,
some are strong at the broken places,”
One thing I never stopped to consider
is how the broken places become strong.
This proverb seems to hold the key:
The gold
that fills the cracks
and preserves the precious
flows from a grateful heart.
Leaving us stronger,
wiser,
more beautiful
than before.
